Why do you have to speak in some abitrary language (usually latin) to access supernatural powers?
Could they just not use magic before this language was invented? And what about dialects and so on?
If the language gets lost, would they lose access to magic forever?

The show The Owl House did it good for example because they actually end up explaining the source of the glyphs why these symbols access magic.

On one hand the symbols Luz uses can actually be found in nature so they aren't just some old human/ witch language and also in the end it's mentioned it's the titans language. Which makes sense because the magic comes from the titans so of course they have to use the titans language to access it.

But most media just won't explain it and without explanation I just think it's such a dumb trope.
